TEHRAN- Farabi Cinema Foundation's International Affairs Manager Amir Esfandiari said that films produced for festivals do not provide accurate representation of the works of Iranian cinematic figures.

The successful participation of Iranian films in different festivals depends on the kind of films that are being promoted, he said.

He criticized the quality of films produced for festivals, saying these are intended to mainly introduce Iranian cinema to festival participants but do not depict the actual realities inside the country.

He noted that Iranian films are making their way into many world-famous film festivals, and said this is proof of the country's success in this field.

Some 10 Iranian films are to be screened in different festivals up to the end of the current year, he informed.

Esfandiari underlined the fact that the film ***Bemani***, produced by Dariush Mehrjoui, was screened in the Cannes Film Festival this year and the film ***The House Built on Water***, directed by Bahman Farmanara, was screened in the Italian Taormina Festival last year.

The Iranian cinema has participated in the Lucarno Film Festival with film entries such as **I, Taraneh Am 15**, produced by Rasoul Sadr Amely, ***Our Time***, directed by Rakhshan Bany E'temad, and ***Ensnared of Awaiting*** by Mohammad Ahmadi, he added.
